I know there are some medical things you could probablly seek, but since you're probablly looking for simple home remedies, then the best advice i can give is to ask him to sleep on his stomach. Trust me it works! I grew up with multiple friends who snored horribly and I learned that if they sleep on their stomach it deminishes the noise. Another thing i can swear by, is to buy a Floor fan, the steady noise should help to drum out the sporadic snores. If that doesnt work, then Dope up on Tylenol PM's. -;o)

Encourage him to sleep on his side, on way to help him do that, is tape a tennis ball to his back, it will prevent him from rolling back on his back ... I've done it, it works.

My husband has snored for years. There are a few treatments, some may work some not so you have to try a few. He ended up having to have sinus surgery and it worked. But if you want an over the counter try the Breathe Right strips and then turn him on his stomach or side. There is also spray you can spray on the back of his throat to stop the rattle. If it is caused by congestion use a decongestant and something like Claritin to stop the reaction.
A doctor can also put little "pins" (doesn't hurt at all) in his throat to stop it. Snoring is caused when the flap of fat in the back of the throat hits the actual throat (unless it is sinus congestion).
You may want to try using ear plugs until you can find a solution.

The ONLY thing you can do, is get him to lose excess weight. Otherwise, get used to it and buy some earplugs.
